SHIVITY[i], 2008-2009

Innumerable layers of faith, myth and legend, wars and struggles of the past and present shroud Jerusalem. The gaze is grounded either in a deep religious sentiment, a delusion, an Oriental fantasy, political ideology or a yearning for the source of enlightenment and redemption.

As the eye approaches the city, the minute details of reality, present in the paintings, it becomes impossible to grasp, depict and describe. Time and again, the attempt to reach “Jerusalem of Gold” is crushed against the barbed-wire fences and concrete wall.

שיויתי לנגדיiii], 2009-2008]

שכבות אין קץ של אמונה, מיתוס ואגדה, מלחמות ומאבקי העבר וההווה עוטפות את העיר ירושלים. לא ניתן להתבונן בה באופן מפוכח. המבט אל ירושלים אחוז ברגש דתי עמוק, או בדמיון, בפנטסיה אוריינטליסטית, באידיאולוגיה פוליטית או במשאלת לב למקום שממנו תבואנה ההארה והגאולה.

ככול שקרבה העין אל העיר, הופכים פרטי הפרטים של המציאות, הנמצאים בעבודות, לבלתי ניתנים לאחיזה, לייצוג ולתיאור. הניסיון להגיע אל ירושלים של זהב מתנפץ שוב ושוב על תלתלי גדרות התיל וחומת הבטון.
