The Birthing of the Anima, 2004

This group of works explores the relationship between poetry and artistic expression. They focus on Haviva Pedaya’s poetry book ‘The Birthing of the Anima’ (or in free translation from Hebrew ’Origin of the Soul’) 2002, which explore the search for the supreme, the sublime, the ‘meta’ or some might say G-d.

This work which was made in Japan emerges from the Kozo, the prime material for making the paper, and within the process of becoming a surface. The form deals with the theme of scrolls, (Megila in Hebrew) which are the form of the old sacred books of the Bible.

עבודות אלה שנעשו ביפן, עוסקות בקשר

שבין שירה ודימוי. המצע הוא ספר השירים

של חביבה פדיה, “מוצא הנפש” 2002,

העוסק בנשגב ובחיפוש אחר התגשמותו

הפיזית והרוחנית. הן נובעות מתהליך עשיית

הנייר ומ”תות הנייר” הצמח ממנו מייצרים נייר.

הצורה בוחנת את המגילה, אורכית ורוחבית,

עליה נכתבים ספרי קודש.
